Spring Teacher Study Group

Old Path White Clouds & The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

March 24th 2026 - May 12th 2026

Tuesday evenings: 7:00-8:30pm EST

In this study group, we bring the Four Foundations of Mindfulness into direct conversation with the Yoga Sutras as a way of meeting the stresses, distractions, and fractures of modern life with honesty and steadiness. By turning toward body, feeling tone, mind, and the patterns that shape our experience, and working with the Sutras as a living guide, we learn to recognize the habits of our mind and respond with greater clarity and care. The work invites a grounded resilience and ethical presence that supports not only our own liberation, but our capacity to serve and teach from lived understanding.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Namaste, Rolf

Course Description

The Format: Study and Practice

Section 1: Body and Practice (Weeks 1–2)
The study begins with mindfulness of the body paired with the Sutras on practice and effort, examining how attention to embodiment stabilizes the nervous system and establishes the ground for disciplined, sustainable practice in a distracted world.

Section 2: Feeling Tone and Relationship to Experience (Weeks 3–4)
Mindfulness of feeling tone is explored alongside the Sutras addressing attachment and aversion, illuminating how unconscious reactivity fuels stress and how skillful discernment transforms our relationship to pleasure, pain, and neutrality.

Section 3: Mind and the Patterns of Thought (Weeks 5–6)
This section pairs mindfulness of mind with the Sutras on the fluctuations of consciousness, helping participants recognize mental habits and cultivate clarity, continuity of attention, and resilience amid fragmentation.

Section 4: Dharma and Ethical Integration (Weeks 7–8)
The final section integrates mindfulness of dharma with the Sutras on ethical living and liberation, exploring how insight matures into wise action, integrity, and responsive teaching within the complexities of contemporary life.

In addition to the sessions you will receive an instructional video each week on the reading of the week and how to bring it into one's practice. This training will also be held on a learning management system allowing individuals to connect with other students, catch up on any sessions they miss and watch the recordings of the sessions.

Hope to see you there
